A Warmer Winter

This winter, let's make Edmonton a little warmer.

500 winter essentials by December
collectedGoal:

One jacket. One pair of gloves. One warm blanket. Every contribution brings us closer to our goal.

Why a Warmer Winter?

Winter in Edmonton is beautiful, but it can also be unforgiving. And for people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity, staying warm can be a daily challenge.

That's why the Global Shapers Edmonton Hub is bringing the community together through A Warmer Winter: a community-driven campaign to collect essential winter supplies and help get them to people who need them.

For many of us, preparing for winter means checking our coats, buying new boots and turning up the heat. But not everyone has access to those basics.

A warm coat or a dry pair of socks may seem like a small thing, but when someone is exposed to the harsh weather conditions, access to suitable clothing and warmth matters.

A Warmer Winter was inspired by a simple but unforgettable moment, when Shaper Tenny Oke, on a cold night in December, saw someone outside in the cold with a blanket that offered very little protection. It raised a question we couldn't shake: how do you stay warm when you don't have the essentials to do so?

We may not be able to solve homelessness with one campaign, but we can come together to make the winter a little less difficult for someone.
